The Fall of the House of Bessman, Chapter 2

So no sooner had I complained, via Twitter, how I used to get invited to parties, but now all I get are “invitations” to like Facebook pages or receive promotional materials, that I did get an “invitation” to cover the 2014 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash for examiner.com.

A new career low.

“Who would have thought that what started out as a little garage band in Forest Hills Queens would end up becoming a legendary punk rock group inspiring generations of young musicians?” I was asked by way of invitation/story pitch.

Definitely stopped me for a moment to think. Indeed, who would have thought?

“Thanks,” I responded, after maybe a millisecond. “Examiner.com doesn’t pay so I’m not interested. But I will answer your question, ‘Who would have thought that what started out as a little garage band in Forest Hills Queens would end up becoming a legendary punk rock group inspiring generations of young musicians?’”

“As I wrote the first book on The Ramones–Ramones—An American Band—I would have.”

A new career low.
